Identifying Violations Affecting Neighborhoods (IVAN) Kern
IVAN Kern is an environmental monitoring system that allows people to report pollution violations they observe in their community. IVAN Kern is managed by the Central California Environmental Justice Network, a partner of the Lost Hills Air Quality Project.
Study of Neighborhood Air Near Petroleum Sources (SNAPS) Program
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is developing a project to better characterize air quality in communities near oil and gas operations. The Study of Neighborhood Air near Petroleum Sources (SNAPS) includes limited-term, intensive air quality monitoring with a particular focus on production facilities. This station will be sited at the Lost Hills Department of Water Resources, and will monitor volatile organic compounds (VOCs), criteria air pollutants (including ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide), methane, and particulate matter. One monitor from the Lost Hills Air Quality Project will be sited at this location for calibration and quality assurance during the initiation of the project.
San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District Real Time Air Advisory Network (RAAN)
RAAN is part of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District and is focused on providing air quality information to the public. Presently, only ozone concentrations are provided by RAAN in Lost Hills.
AirNow Air Quality Index (AQI) Calculator
The AQI tells you how clean or polluted your outdoor air is, along with associated health effects that may be of concern. The AQI translates air quality data into numbers and colors that help people understand when to take action to protect their health. AQI thresholds are shown in the graph on the Data Page of the Lost Hills Air Quality Project site.
